Optical Equipment Repairs

Our workshop can handle most repairs on-site.  When you bring or send in your equipment, please give us as much information about the fault as possible.  Don’t be afraid to tell us if it has been dropped - even a small drop or knock can cause big problems, especially with heavy or electronic equipment.  Sand and water can also cause equipment failure, please tell us if you think it has been in either.

Fungus growths on lens elements...

Over the past few years we are seeing increasing numbers of optical equipment with fungal growths.  It is easy to check for: - look through the scope or binoculars from the wrong end or if it’s a camera lenses open up the aperture then hold the unit to a bright light.  If you see any dark patches that may look like cobwebs then the optics need to be looked at.  If you catch it in the early stages we can clean the affected elements.

Collimation of binoculars...

If you are getting a double image when looking through your binoculars they will need to be re-collimated.  We will need to dismantle them, the prisms and optics will then be cleaned and realigned.  This is quite a common occurrence especially if they have been dropped or knocked.

We also offer a repair service for all photographic equipment - cameras (digital or film), lenses, projectors, camcorders (digital and analogue).

See our photographic website at  www.newtonellis.co.uk  for more information.
